“Hope” present: Island of Elba

Italian / English

Thanks to “Hope” the DJ-producer Matteo Bruscagin in collaboration with Andrea Piko, alias Awill, rediscovers the emotion of the DJ set by evolving the experience of their profession into a support initiative for the development of the territory.

The idea was inspired by the historical tale of Napoleon who lived exiled in the magical island of Elba, and can only be compared metaphorically to the situation of complexity that is afflicting many artists and professionals in the show business in this historical moment. Precisely, it is an exile from the music scene, due to the impossibility of aggregation. People touched by art make artists useful for their purpose. Thus, starting from this lack of communication dictated by restrictions, the desire to go further with this noble initiative arises from Matteo and the young Awill. Reconsidering alternative options in the proposal of their music, they are keeping the spirit active in one of the most difficult period that the entire entertainment sector is going through.

Matteo Bruscagin & Awill

It is a video that projects us into the naturalistic environment of the island of Elba, the image of a mining field consumed by the voracity of man, which has now become a protected park. A surreal place, close to the cliff and overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea. A cinematic landscape, with a red terrain typical of Martian surfaces, in contrast with the rich vegetation, simulating the shape of the earth in a science fiction documentary. According to the two artists, unable to express themselves on earth, they decided to record on another planet. It seems like a blast from the Pinkfloydian past, when in 72 ‘David Gilmur and his associates played in the Pompeii theater, involving the entire world on television with breathtaking images and psychodelic music, with the difference that today the world of the Internet comes into play with its social tools, drones and so on.

Matteo has shown in the past his mastery in the art of electronic music by composing sequences with analog synthesizers for commercials of well-known brands, such as for the “Swatch” campaign for the Beijing Olympics. Working also with different acronyms, he has been DJ of the historic “Venice Film Festival” several times, ranging in rare musical selections from the 70’s and 80’s to the most sophisticated and modern techno-melodic.

Matteo Bruscagin

Today Matteo is enforced by his latest successful EP released by Diynamic music, the record label of the esteemed DJ and producer of the moment, Solomun. The song “Rain” was born from a collaboration in which Matteo found a match with Angelmoon, Visnadi and the voice of Danny Losito, veteran artists of the Italian and international scene.

So there is the opportunity to support the initiative of the young DJ Andrea Piko, known for his collaborations with the DJ Franchino of Music and Magic and on tour in recent years through the best clubs in Italy. Andrea encloses in the portfolio of his short artistic career the recording participation in the compilation of MTV Ibiza mixed by the famous international DJ Tocadisco.

Awill

Andrea with his new musical project “Awill” calls Matteo back to duty on the historic island of Elba. An evocative place full of myths and legends where the gods met in ancient times. And certainly Matteo could not miss the opportunity to be culturally inspired on this magnificent island.

The reason for this friendly match is still unknown: we can only imagine that Matteo and Awill, in this spectacular breathtaking panorama, hold the discografical and promotional previews of a future that we do not yet know and which certainly looks promising.

Anna Volnaya

It is not just music, it is also a moment to remember the dance curated by the modern-contemporary dance master Stanislav Zyma and his student Marta Migliarini, the painting and art created by Anna Volnaya, and professional sectors chosen by Gianluigi Sorvillo & Adriano Foresi in solidarity with the difficulties they are going through today.

Surely in this period dictated by inaction, this DJ set will be a valuable contribution, a valid initiative in a bucolic landscape to the sound of dance music that can be lived from home with family and friends and, why not, even drinking a good Gin, or more simply an hour of  music during our smart working. This can remind us how in Italy there are wonderful places to visit and above all reachable by everyone without going to the end of the world searching for magnificent experiences.
